The GT America Powered by AWS 2021 Champion Jason Bell looks to claim another title once again this year at the last round of the season this coming weekend. Drivers will take to the famed road course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) for the eighth and final round of the 2022 season. Bell, alongside his GMG Racing program and behind the wheel of his Aston Martin Vantage GT4, hopes to leave the motorsports capital of the world once again with a few race victories and the Drivers’ Championship this weekend.
Jason Bell held onto his points lead after the doubleheader race weekend at the Sebring International Raceway just two weeks ago scoring another 18 points for his second-place finish in the second wheel-to-wheel race of the weekend. The result pushed Bell back to the point lead heading into the final race weekend as he sits just two points ahead of the next contender.
“We’ve had a great year so far,” explained Bell. “Both the team and I are in the running for the driver and team championship so we can’t take any risks this weekend but need to make sure we are at the pointy end of the field.”
Despite being the highest point scorer, Bell has had some bad luck on occasion this season with a few incidents at no fault of his own.
Bell added, “We should be sitting with more points than we currently have and a much bigger lead. We have just run into a few bad luck stints here and there causing us to not place where we were capable. I just want to say thank you to GMG Racing for working so hard this season and giving me the fastest car on track. No matter what happens, I’ll be proud of these people and this year, but I really want to deliver them another title to add to their resume.”
With a ride confirmed for the Indianapolis 8-Hour, Bell chose to focus his efforts solely on the GT America Championship. Jason Bell will take to the track one last time in the GT America, GT4 class this season Thursday at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway starting with practice. Bell will then qualify Friday to participate in two races throughout the weekend.
Jason Bell would like to thank all his partners for their continued support this year. A huge thanks to Fidelis Capital, GMG Racing, Aston Martin Racing, MovoCash, Meat Market, and Paddock1 Garages.
