It was a podium-winning weekend for Jack William Miller and Miller Vinatieri Motorsports (MVM) this past weekend at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio. Finishing third in the first wheel-to-wheel action on the weekend, Miller moved into ninth in the championship with seven races to go.
After qualifying ninth for race one, Miller kept his position inside the top-ten for qualifying two as he earned the tenth-fastest lap of the session. Looking to move forward once the race action began, the two USF Pro 2000 Presented by Cooper Tire races took place on Saturday with threatening weather.
Moving forward when the green flag flew in race one, the race was red flagged when weather moved into the area. With drivers scrambling to the pit lane to change to the wet weather Cooper Tires, Miller was excited at the opportunity that lay ahead. Known for his wet weather skills and with only two laps at the end of the race to show them, Miller advanced forward from just inside the top-five to the second position before eventually crossing the line third.
“It was a great day and happy to be back on the podium,” explained Miller. “We are proving that our one car effort can compete with some of the bigger teams, and I will look to finish the weekend strong this afternoon during race two.”
With two-wheel-to-wheel races on the same day, Miller was unable to find the pace needed when the track dried. Closing his Mid-Ohio event with a 12th place result, the young Indianapolis resident will now shift his focus to the next event north of the border in Toronto.
Miller continued, “I am excited for another street race. I love Toronto and have had some success there in the past. We will be aiming to be back on the podium and hopeful for a win in Canada.”
The next round of the USF Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires will be July 14-16 at the Streets of Toronto during the Honda Indy Toronto.
