Making the trek from their home base in Central Florida to Houston, Texas, Speed Concepts Racing and their Redspeed Kart program took on the Speedsportz Racing Park this past week for the first annual Superkarts! USA Shootout event. Leaving the event with some hardware, X30 Junior driver Jack Jeffers climbed to the top step of the podium while team driver Luke Lange was the X30 Senior Vice-Champion.

“We worked a lot on our IAME program during the pandemic shutdown and it showed at the 2020 Pro Tour and this past weekend in Texas,” expressed Mike Speed. “We will continue to push the envelope in every way possible and make sure that we have the best package to put on track in 2021.”

X30 Junior competitor Jack Jeffers sored the pole position, two of three heat race wins and the main event victory to be names the inaugural SuperNats Shootout X30 Junior Champion. Battling hard with his teammate, Jeffers needed to outduel Paul Bocuse who showed great speed in the main event, saving his best result of the weekend for when it counted. After progressing through the heats with third, third and sixth place results, Bocuse made it a one – two finish for the Redspeed drivers as he finished .876 behind Jeffers. Jace Park finished seventh in the main event after scoring a second-place result in heat one on the weekend but will look to rebound next week at the final round of the United States Pro Kart Series.

Luke Lange showed the speed for Speed Concepts Racing and Redspeed in the X30 Senior class as a pole position in qualifying led to three heat race wins and the inside front row starting position for the main event. In a two-kart battle for the win where the front pair drove away from the third-place driver by nearly seven seconds over the twenty-four-lap main event, Lange came up .105 short in one of the closest finishes of the weekend. Trading the top spot with competitor and friend Branyon Tiner, the duo was the class of the field.

Speed added, “I think we showed our speed and consistency this weekend with all of our drivers running in the top-three in their respective classes on occasion. Speedsportz Racing Park is an amazing facility and Alan Rudolph put on a pretty good event. We are looking forward to returning in 2021 and will definitely mark the date on our calendar.”

Crisscrossing their way across the country, Speed Concepts Racing will take on the final round of the United States Pro Kart Series (USPKS) over the October 15-18 weekend at the pristine GoPro Motorplex in Mooresville, North Carolina.
