JACE BACON SCORES ANOTHER WIN AND THREE PODIUM RESULTS AT CIRCUIT OF THE AMERICAS

Crown Racing’s youngest driver, Jace Bacon, crushed it this past weekend at the Blue Marble Radical Cup North America program at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA). Competing at the Austin, Texas-based facility, Jace was the only Pro 1340 competitor to claim a podium in every wheel-to-wheel race taking home the win on Sunday, his first win since the season opener at NOLA Motorsports Park earlier this year.

Not only did the young driver take home a win, but he also claimed two runner-up results in race one and two. After coming up just shy of the pole position pace in qualifying, Jace began race one just behind his teammate and managed to hold off his father to bring home the #999 Crown Concepts entry in second during the first wheel-to-wheel battle of the weekend. Along with his father Seth Bacon, who finished third and teammate Chris McMurry who claimed the win, the trio of Crown Racing drivers brought home a podium sweep for the Crown Racing team.

Starting from the second position in class again for race two, Jace held steady in the 100+ degree heat to earn his second runner-up result of the weekend.

“This heat has been tough,” explained Bacon. “The track is already one of the harder courses on the schedule this season so I’m happy I can garner these results for the team. I’m still itching to be back on the top again. There aren’t many opportunities left in the season to gain championship points, so getting that top spot in this last race is important.”

With one last opportunity left in the weekend, Bacon’s fastest lap in race two put him on the inside of the front row for race three. While he was able to hold onto the lead throughout the 16-lap affair, Jace Bacon crossed the finish line a winner again in the Pro 1340 class just ahead of his father Seth Bacon in a Bacon Boyz one–two finish.

“From the start, it was about managing the tires with the heat on the track and making smart decisions,” added Bacon. “This win puts us in a great position for the championship heading into the season finale. I’m happy with my work here this weekend, and I’m thankful to the Crown Racing team for all their hard work and support this weekend. Getting the win over my dad was just a cherry on top of the weekend.”

After this weekend, Jace is back in the running for the Pro 1340 class championship. With only one last race event left in the Blue Marble Radical Cup North America series, Bacon will look to capitalize on his recent momentum at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in two weeks for the season finale alongside the NTT INDYCAR SERIES finale.
