The Blue Marble Radical Cup North America program returns to the only permanent Formula One track in the United States, the famed Circuit of the Americas (COTA) this weekend. Located in Austin, Texas, COTA will provide the backdrop to Crown Racing’s Pro 1340 rookie driver Jace Bacon as he continues to visit venues that he has only read about.
After making an impressive comeback to the podium in Toronto a few weeks ago, Bacon is feeling confident in his Arizona-based team, Crown Racing. Jace Bacon currently sits third in the Pro 1340 championship points battle, a mere 42 points behind the leader, and is just a few strong results away from taking over the top spot.
“There isn’t much room for error right now. We are still in the fight for the championship,” explains Bacon. “We can’t afford to have any mistakes this weekend. We are only a couple of solid finishes away from the lead, and I’m confident the Crown Racing team will give us a quick car. It’ll be up to me to make sure we have clean practices and races to have the opportunity to gain as many points as we possibly can this weekend.”
“Crown swept the competition at COTA last year,” adds Seth Bacon, Jace’s father and one of the other combatants that will be on track in the Pro 1340 class. “I’m confident we will be the team to beat in Austin this weekend.”
Competitors will participate in a track walk on Thursday before taking part in a pair of test sessions Friday, followed by practice one that afternoon. Saturday will see one final practice on the famed Formula One circuit before qualifying and the first wheel-to-wheel race of the weekend. Round five of the Blue Marble Radical Cup North American series will close out with two final races Sunday. See the full schedule below.
