With seven rounds complete, the Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires Championship has reached the halfway point of the 2022 season. So far this year, HMD Motorsports with Dale Coyne Racing and Global Racing Group has racked up five wins, nine podiums and five pole positions in a dominating streak. Heading into the second half of the season, HMD currently leads both the Team Championship and Driver Championship with Linus Lundqvist easily in the lead. HMD also has three drivers in the top-four positions with Benjamin Pedersen in third and Danial Frost in fourth.
With six weekends and seven races remaining in the championship, HMD is focused on racking up more wins, podiums and best result finishes between their five-drive lineup of Lundqvist, Pedersen, Frost, Antonio Serravalle and Christian Bogle.
The series will kick off the second half of the season this weekend, July 1-3, at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in a single-event weekend alongside the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and the entire Road to Indy. As part of HMD’s in-season testing schedule, all five drivers participated in a team test at the track back in May and are confident heading into the weekend. Taking place on the 2.258-mile, 13-turn course, HMD has had numerous podium results at the track in the past few years and is coming in to the weekend strong and more prepared than ever before.
Alongside the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, Indy Lights will take to the circuit four times this weekend with one practice session on Friday, followed by practice two and qualifying on Saturday in preparation for the 35-lap race on Sunday.
