HMD Motorsports is locked and loaded for the second and final street race of the 2025 INDY NXT by Firestone season as the team heads to the streets of Downtown Detroit for Round 5 of the championship. The event marks the fourth race weekend of the year and brings the intensity of temporary circuits back into the spotlight.
Fielding an impressive eight-car lineup, HMD Motorsports continues to showcase one of the deepest rosters on the grid. Among the returnees is Max Taylor, who will be back behind the wheel of the #18 entry. Taylor joins a strong cast of rookies and returning talent for the challenge of Detroit’s narrow, high-speed layout.
Juan Manuel Correa will take on his third start of the season, looking to build momentum as he adapts to the INDY NXT machinery. Fellow rookies Tommy Smith, Hailie Deegan, and Liam Sceats will also return to the lineup, aiming to continue their development on one of the most technical circuits on the calendar.
Veteran experience comes from second-year drivers Caio Collet and Nolan Allaer, both eager for a rebound weekend, along with third-year competitor Josh Pierson, who has shown promising pace, solid results, and consistency so far in 2025.
“We’ve had a good start to the season with podiums and top-five results across the board, but we are still searching for that first win of the season,” expressed Mike Maurini, President of HMD Motorsports. “Detroit always demands a new level of precision and focus, and our roster is ready for the challenge. We’re excited to be back at it this weekend and continue pushing for results.”
While Max Taylor is behind the wheel of the #18, INDY NXT podium winner and HMD Motorsports reserve driver Evagoras Papasavvas will be on site in Detroit continuing his learning curve. Spending weekends with the team and being ready to jump into the action, Papasavvas will expand his knowledge base this weekend from outside the cockpit.
The Detroit Grand Prix weekend begins with Practice 1 on Friday, airing live on FS2. Practice 2 and Qualifying will take place on Saturday, both airing on FS1, with the 45-lap feature race set for Sunday at 10:30 AM ET, also live on FS1.
