With the final oval event on the 2019 Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires schedule set for this weekend, HMD Motorsports is pleased to announce a partnership with Variety the Children’s Charity of St. Louis. Adding the Variety logo to both cars’ livery, Variety St. Louis will also welcome more than 700 guests trackside for the event this weekend.

“We are honored that Variety will be represented on the HMD Motorsports cars,” says Brian Roy, Executive Director of Variety St. Louis. “Variety Kids use the best and most innovative equipment to navigate their world independently, just like HMD Motorsports uses the latest technologies to make their cars the fastest on the racetrack. We’re excited to be part of this, and Variety Kids will certainly be among the loudest cheering on drivers Toby Sowery and David Malukas!”

Variety’s main objective is to empower children with special needs and improve their quality of life. Focusing on ability, rather than disability, Variety’s holistic approach provides access to critical medical equipment and therapy while also offering opportunities for recreation, socialization and artistic expression.

“This is a very cool opportunity and a perfect way to provide Variety with some added promotion through the event weekend,” explains HMD Motorsports’ new Team Manager John Cummiskey. “We are happy to have them as part of our program.”

Additionally, Kid Indy, operated by Hanks Edwards, has signed on to be a Junior Sponsor for Toby Sowery this coming weekend at the World Wide Technology Raceway event just outside St. Louis. Hanks is a 15-year-old IndyCar fan and blogger from the St. Louis area who provides news, information and insights on the motorsports world from the eyes of a teenager. Look for Hanks Edwards, a sophomore at St. Louis University High School to be trackside with Sowery and HMD Motorsports, and be sure to follow him on Facebook by searching ‘Kid Indy’ or Twitter by searching Kid Indy Racing.

Sowery and Malukas were at the top of the time sheets at the most recent Gateway series test session. Currently sitting fourth and sixth in points respectively with five rounds left in the 2019 season, both HMD team drivers are ready for the task at hand at the Madison, Illinois facility, which is just east of St. Louis. Practice and qualifying are slated for Friday, August 23 with the round 14 race at 3:25pm CDT Saturday, August 24. The team and drivers will also host Variety guests during the weekend and help fulfill the charity’s vision: “A world where children’s abilities are redefined and possibilities are reimagined.”
