HMD MOTORSPORTS BRINGS CHAMPIONSHIP POINT LEAD INTO NEW LOOK DETROIT THIS WEEKEND

With the Month of May in the rearview mirror, the action does not stop as HMD Motorsports brings nine hungry competitors to the first double-header event of the 2023 INDY NXT by Firestone season alongside David Malukas who will round out the team lineup in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. Set to take on the Streets of Detroit, it will be an equal and level playing field for all as a new venue and layout will greet HMD Motorsports competitors as they look to continue to extend their championship point lead.

Currently first, second, and third in the INDY NXT by Firestone Championship point standings, Barber Motorsports Park race winner Christian Rasmussen is atop the points table with rookie driver and two-time podium winner Nolan Siegel trailing in second. Third on the charts is the 2023 Grand Prix of St. Petersburg victor Danial Frost. Joining Rasmussen, Siegel, and Frost will be Christian Bogle who returns to the city of his best career INDY NXT result, GMR Grand Prix podium winner Kyffin Simpson, Josh Green, Barber Motorsports Park podium winner Toby Sowery, the always competitive Reece Gold, and the Force Indy entry of Ernie Francis Jr. who will return to the lineup after missing the Indy round due to a fractured hand.

David Malukas will be back in his familiar Dale Coyne Racing with HMD Motorsports #18 in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES as he looks to rebound from a disappointing Month of May. The 2022 Detroit event marked David’s first trip to the Firestone Fast Six in NTT INDYCAR SERIES qualifying and although it is a new layout in 2023, Malukas is hoping to repeat the performance.

As a development series for young drivers, INDY NXT by Firestone shares the track all weekend with the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. With practice and qualifying for INDY NXT taking place on Friday, two wheel-to-wheel races will take place on Saturday and Sunday. NTT INDYCAR SERIES qualifying will happen Saturday afternoon with round seven of the popular program taking their one and only green flag of the weekend on Sunday afternoon.
