The 2024 Formula Race Promotions season has come to a close, and it was a championship-winning effort for the Cahan Racing Team. Taking place at the Summit Point Motorsports Park in West Virginia, Gabriel Cahan earned a pair of top-five results to claim the F2000 championship. Younger brother Ayrton Cahan added a top-ten result as he continued to learn and develop in the talent-filled F1600 class.

Coming into the weekend atop the championship standings, Gabriel Cahan needed a solid weekend of results, keeping his closest rival at bay, to earn the title in his rookie season. With some heavy hitters and more experienced drivers showing up for the season’s final event, Gabriel qualified fourth before finishing fifth and fourth in his two wheel-to-wheel races. Gabriel Cahan secured the championship by garnering just enough points after Sunday’s race.

“I’m coming out of Summit Point for the last series race feeling relieved after a close championship battle and going home as champion in the F2000 class,” expressed Gabriel Cahan. “Our weekend didn’t start in our favor, though, with me having to start from the back for the restart for race one and coming back to finish fifth from 15th position. However, the weekend ended on a high, finishing first in points and being crowned champion. Going into this year, we didn’t think we could even finish on a podium, but after the first race, we knew we could be in contention for a championship. I am super thankful for the crew and all their hard work, my family for supporting me, and the FRP staff for putting on a fantastic series at tracks I would only dream of racing on as a kid.”

Younger brother Ayrton Cahan was set to have his final three F1600 races of the season, but weather played a factor in race three. After qualifying 11th and moving forward to finish seventh in race one, race two ended early for Ayrton after an on-track issue despite showing speed. Looking to rebound in race three and with an inside row two starting position, a thunderstorm moved into the area, putting the race on hold, and eventually canceled in the essence of caution.

Ayrton Cahan added, “The 2024 FRP season went by so fast! Although I am sad that it is over, I am happy to say it was a great learning year! Despite all our struggles this year, we ended the year strong. Throughout the season, we continued to move up the pack every race weekend. Summit Point was our best weekend of the year! We got the car dialed in for the last race and achieved our best starting position of P3. Unfortunately, due to the weather, the race did not commence. I cannot wait to see what 2025 brings me.”

With the 2024 Formula Race Promotions race season now complete, Gabriel and Ayrton have one more event later this year at the famed Sonoma Raceway as they look to add hardware to their trophy case.

With the 2025 direction for Gabriel and Ayrton yet to be confirmed, the duo will look to continue their upward trend and plan the next steps in their motorsports career in the coming months.
