With the aim to add more race wins and podium results to their 2019 resume, Team Supertune will head back to Las Vegas for the final event on their yearly calendar. Set to take on the 23rd annual Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) SuperNationals, the potent Tony Kart squad will enter fifteen drivers, totaling seventeen entries, across four IAME powered classes.
Six of the fifteen drivers will come from the Mini Swift category. Kai Sorensen, fresh off his ROK the RIO victory less than three weeks ago, will return to the RIO All-Suite Hotel and Casino and look for the checkered flag yet again on the temporary circuit. Dominating the Mini ranks in 2019, Sorensen aims to cap the year off in style with a win. Anderson Leonard and Enzo Deligny have kept Sorensen honest throughout the season by running at the pointy end of the field. Scoring wins across the country and gaining experience in Europe, the duo will be shooting to put multiple Supertune drivers at the front of the field. Xander Reed will return to Las Vegas as he, Wyatt Vidovich and Julian DaCosta join the trio of Sorensen, Leonard and Deligny in the hunt for the top step of the podium.
Eight Supertune entries come from the junior ranks as a pair of drivers will pull double duty, accounting for four of the entries. Cole and Carson Morgan will see action in both the morning and afternoon sessions as the duo will see action in both X30 Junior and KA100 Junior. With a pair of chances each to become victorious on Super Sunday, Cole and Carson will look to put the Morgan name back at the top in SKUSA competition.
SKUSA Pro Tour Champ Freddy Slater and John Burke, X30 Junior class Vice Champion at the United States Pro Kart Series, will provide another powerful 1 – 2 punch for Tony Kart and Supertune. The two champions will be looking to add to the 2019 win total as they are joined by team newcomer Noah Baker.
Jorge Ortiz will look to double up in Las Vegas having already claimed the ROK the RIO 100cc Junior championship at the beginning of the month. Putting his Supertune Tony Kart at the top of the podium with the ROK engine platform, Ortiz will aim to do the same with his ultra-fast IAME KA100 package.
Three more international entries will come from the youngest class in SKUSA competition. Hailing from France, Costa Rica and Venezuela, Alessandro Truchot, Andres Ardiles and Marco Romero will fly the Supertune colors in IAME Micro Swift.
“We are really excited about this year’s SuperNats,” explains Ben Cruttenden. “Able to win the event last year, we are hoping we can repeat this year across several different classes.”
With on track action set to begin on Wednesday morning, Supertune will hit the track for a total of seven practice sessions in the split schedule format. Thursday will be an important day with qualifying with the first wheel-to-wheel action taking place on Friday. With a total of three heat races, last chance qualifiers will run Saturday afternoon and set the grid for Super Sunday.
