Evagoras Papasavvas capped off his planned INDY NXT by Firestone race schedule this past holiday weekend at his hometown event, the Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio at the iconic Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Racing in front of a supportive local crowd, the Loveland, Ohio native qualified ninth and went on to finish ninth in Sunday’s race after battling through a competitive field and a lengthy red flag period early in the event.
Papasavvas, who has piloted the #24 HMD Motorsports entry in five INDY NXT rounds this season, showed strong pace all weekend at the 2.258-mile natural terrain road course despite a disrupted race that included a lengthy red flag and track repair early on. The Ohio driver maintained his composure and race craft to bring home another solid top-ten finish for the team.
“It was really special to race here at Mid-Ohio with so many friends and family cheering me on, even my dog,” explained Papasavvas. “Of course, you always want to fight further up the field, but I’m proud of how we managed the chaos today and brought it home in the top-ten. I’m grateful to HMD Motorsports for the opportunity this year and look forward to supporting the team in my role as reserve driver the rest of the season.”
Although he is not currently scheduled to drive in any remaining INDY NXT events this year, Papasavvas will continue to work closely with HMD Motorsports as their official reserve driver, ready to step in if needed for the remainder of the 2025 campaign.
