In a season that has flown by, Jay Howard Driver Development pilot Evagoras Papasavvas is ready for his final Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship event of the season. After a strong performance on the Streets of Toronto that saw him run inside the top-five, the rookie is now set for his first trip to the fast and flowing Portland International Raceway (PIR).

“As a driver, I have been gaining knowledge and experience with each race weekend and consistently getting better,” explained Papasavvas. “My results have proven this growth, and I hope to continue the upward trend this weekend in Portland.”

Learning from the JHDD driver development program, Evagoras has proven his speed. After a rough go during his series debut at Road America, Papasavvas improved in his second event weekend at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and became more comfortable with his USF2000 machine. While the results were not reflective of his progress, Evargoras was happy. Toronto saw the youngster climb another step in his progression as he works towards a full-season program in 2023.

Papasavvas added, “With my karting injury and surgery that took me out of the seat earlier in the season, the rest of 2022 was a learning year. Trying to soak it all in and gain as much experience as possible, the focus shifted to that to better my 2023 efforts.”

Evagoras Papasavvas will have three more opportunities to gain that much-needed knowledge and experience this weekend. With the final race weekend of 2022 featuring three wheel-to-wheel races, the JHDD driver will have three more opportunities to climb the results sheet.

With all USF2000 drivers hitting the track for a pair of Promoters Test sessions, the first official practice of the weekend will be Thursday afternoon. Friday will feature a jam-packed day with qualifying and two wheel-to-wheel races along with the autograph session sandwiched between the two races. Saturday will be the championship decider and the final race of 2022.
