Earning his first career pole position and victory in the USF2000 Presented by Cooper Tires at the most recent event, Jay Howard Driver Development’s Evagoras Papasavvas heads to Toronto riding a wave of momentum. Now set to compete at the second and final temporary venue of the season, Papasavvas is aiming high at the 1.786-mile, 11-turn, barrier line Streets of Toronto circuit that will be the home of the Honda Indy Toronto this weekend.
“Last year in Toronto we showed great speed. I was running inside the top-five in race two when an unfortunate mechanical failure relegated us to P11, so I have some experience from 2022 to build upon,” explained Evagoras.
After a strong pace in Canada in 2022, Papasavvas’s two starts on temporary circuits this season have awarded him with second and fourth-place results to date in 2023.
Evagoras added, “I am comfortable on the street circuits and hope that will help me in my quest to add to results to my resume. After a pole position, win, two podium finishes, and three top-five results in Ohio, I am excited at the opportunity to get back on track and try and continue that success.”
Currently, fifth in the USF2000 Presented by Cooper Tire championship point standings, Papasavvas’s results in Ohio closed the gap to the current leader as he makes a late-season push.
“I am only 35 points away from my teammate in second and 71 points away from the leader so anything can still happen,” added the Ohio native. “It will be important to stay out of trouble, have a good results weekend, and hopefully luck will be on our side as the final checkered flag of the season is on the horizon.”
Set to hit the track Friday for one practice session, Evagoras Papasavvas will qualify that afternoon for race one. Saturday morning will see qualifying for race two which will take place Sunday morning while the first wheel-to-wheel action of the weekend goes green on Saturday afternoon.
