The USF2000 Presented by Continental Tire program traveled to Louisiana this weekend for rounds three, four, and five of the 2024 season. Jay Howard Driver Development (JHDD) driver Evagoras Papasavvas proved to be one of the drivers to beat, keeping his podium streak alive, which began at the season opener in St. Petersburg last month. Clinching a trio of second-place finishes, Evagoras brought his season tally to an incredible five podium triumphs in just five races this season!

“Another really strong weekend, thanks to everyone at Jay Howard Driver Development,” Papasavvas expressed. “We continue to show that we can fight at the front of the field, and I think we can continue to do so for the rest of the season.”

After three solid test sessions and a sole official practice session on Friday, Papasavvas showcased his skills in both qualifying rounds on Saturday. Securing the third-fastest time in the first qualifying session, he positioned himself brilliantly for race one.  In the second qualifying session, the Ohio resident was fourth quickest, earning himself a good start on the outside of row two for race two.

Race one on Saturday saw Papasavvas translate his lightning-quick one-lap pace into a stellar race performance, adding his first second-place result of the weekend and celebrating in a well-deserved podium celebration. Sunday morning’s race two witnessed another display of Papasavvas’s skill as he stormed to another second-place finish, securing yet another podium appearance. The streak continued in race three as Papasavvas piloted his #6 to his third podium result of the weekend, marking his fifth consecutive podium finishing, leaving New Orleans second in the USF2000 championship point standings.

“I’m happy with three podium results in three races, but I want to find my way to the top step and win again,” added Papasavvas. “We come away from this weekend with a big points haul, which will be helpful in the battle for a series title.”

Papasavvas currently sits second in the USF2000 championship, a mere 16 points behind the current leader. Now, all eyes turn to rounds six and seven at the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where the Month of May kicks off in spectacular fashion over the May 9-11 weekend.
