This past weekend saw the second round of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) come and go on the 19-turn, 3.050-mile-long Imola Circuit at Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari. After a rough start in the season opener in Qatar, the Duqueine Issotta Fraschini team redeemed themselves with an improved race result in Italy.

Despite a tough qualifying result, the driving trio was able to make up two places from their starting position, for a result of 17th in the Hypercar class. Vernay began the race in the driver’s seat with Bennett taking over for the second stint. The Canadian Serravalle completed the race behind the wheel in the third stint of the six-hour event.

“We’re proud to be improving every time we hit the track,” explained Carl Bennett. “We can tell we still need to work on our qualifying runs, but it was a success making it to the finish line this round and gaining two positions on top of that. I have a lot of confidence in this team, and I think it’s going to be an uphill incline as we go through the rest of the season.”

Bennett and the rest of the team will venture to Belgium in two weeks to take on round three of the FIA World Endurance Challenge at Circuit de Spa Francorchamps from May 9-11 for the Total Energies 6 Hours of Spa. More information on the race event can be found here.
