Nearly four months from earning the first two TCR wins of his career, Tyler Maxson will be aiming for a few more this coming weekend in Virginia. Taking on the famed Virginia International Raceway (VIR), Maxson will be back behind the wheel of his Copeland Motorsports prepared Hyundai Veloster N TCR in his quest to continue the momentum gained.

“I am an avid sim racer and I love racing online, but I am definitely ready to get back to the racetrack,” explained the double Circuit of the Americas race winner. “We had a great test at VIR a few weeks ago, and I know the guys have been hard at work at the shop getting everything ready. We have a big team this weekend and have set the bar high with what we want to achieve.”

After scoring the pole position and first two wins of the season, Maxson travelled to St. Petersburg, Florida for rounds three and four alongside the NTT IndyCar Series and complete Road to Indy program. Set to climb behind the wheel, competitors received notice from the event organizers that the state and city officials had forced them to cancel the remainder of the weekend as the global wide pandemic began. Fast forward today and while we are not out of the woods by any means, Maxson and his team are looking forward to seeing their extended motorsports family trackside in Virginia.

Maxson added, “Going to the track is a return to some normalcy but it will be far from normal. No fans, no autograph session amongst a lot of other things, but I do know that winning and losing will feel the same, so the goal remains to be the first one to the checkered flag in each and every race this coming week.”

With a Promoter Test Day kicking off the on-track action on Wednesday, teams and competitors will move into official practice on Thursday before qualifying and race one take place on Friday with race two and three of the weekend running Saturday and Sunday.

Tyler Maxson would like to thank Copeland Motorsports, Bryan Herta Autosport, Hyundai, HRX USA and Four Seasons Auto Wash for all of their help, support and hard work throughout the 2020 season.
