Entering only three drivers at the opening round of the Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) Winter Series this past weekend, Speed Concepts Racing would work like they normally do to ensure all of them had their shot at race wins. Competing at the AMR Motorplex in Homestead, Florida, Paul Bocuse and Mathias Ramirez garnered podium results while Ayden Ingratta had a race win taken away due to on track infraction that was no fault of his own.

“We had a ton of speed this weekend but some of the on-track calls did not go our way,” explained Mike Speed. “I feel really bad for Ayden and think that he was robbed of a dominating win on Saturday, but he returned Sunday to earn a top-five result. To have all three of our drivers in the top-four on Sunday and all of them improve from their Saturday finishes is a perfect example of how we can learn, teach, coach and adapt through the race weekend to make our drivers better.”

While Ingratta was the first to cross the line in Saturday’s X30 Junior main event, the young Canadian was given a ten second penalty for passing under the yellow and relegated to 11th in the final results. While no denying that he passed a fellow competitor while entering a corner where there was a kart off the side of the track, at the time he made the pass there was no yellow flag displayed. Returning on Sunday looking to repeat his winning drive on Saturday, Ayden drove to a solid fourth place finish gaining three positions in the final and scoring one of the fastest laps of the race.

One of the two Speed Concepts Racing podium results came at the hands of X30 Junior driver Paul Bocuse. Having to start at the tail of the grid, Bocuse scored the fastest lap of the race and was the biggest mover as he charged forward 23 positions to earn and eighth place result. Crossing the stripe third and pushed back due to a bumper penalty, Bocuse had a hard-earned podium result ripped from his grasps. Sunday would prove to be even better for the young Floridian as a second-place result in the prefinal earned him a front row starting position for the main event. Battling hard and looking to earn SCR their first win of 2021, Bocuse had to settle for the second step on the podium with a second-place finish.

Much like Bocuse, SCR newcomer Mathias Ramirez had similar results and progression from day-to-day. After finishing in P8 on Saturday, Ramirez returned Sunday leading several laps of the main event and drove himself to a podium result. In his first national event with Speed Concepts Racing, Ramirez will find more speed and results as he becomes more comfortable with the program.

Speed added, “It is great to get results on Sunday, but they only last until Monday. Back on the road to the ROK Cup USA Florida Winter Tour this weekend.”

Making the short drive north about ninety minutes, Speed Concepts Racing will take on the temporary circuit at the Isle Casino in Pompano Beach, Florida for the first round of the ROK Cup USA Florida Winter Tour. Entering four drivers across six classes, the elite level program will look to carry their momentum to the second event of 2021.
