With a new circuit for the Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires program, the playing field has been leveled for this weekend’s Detroit Grand Prix. Looking forward to his second career Indy Lights street race, Russian born Nikita Lastochkin will aim to advance up the grid in his #59 HMD Motorsports entry as he takes on the barrier lined circuit on Belle Isle.

“I have watched IndyCar in Detroit for quite some time and always looked forward to racing at Belle Isle,” explained Lastochkin. “My Indy Lights career best finish came at the temporary circuit in April, but I will look to reset that result this coming weekend.”

Known for the bumps, the 2.35-mile, 13-corner circuit will be the next hurdle for Lastochkin. Always a challenge for even the best of drivers, the picturesque island circuit lays alongside the Detroit River bordering Canada.

Lastochkin continued, “I love new circuits, so I have been looking forward to Detroit since I confirmed the season with HMD Motorsports back in March. I am learning so much each and every race weekend and will look to put all that new knowledge to use this coming weekend.”

With official on track action beginning on Friday, June 11th, Lastochkin will aim to improve his career best finish from earlier this season during rounds seven and eight of the 2021 Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires season.
