DC AUTOSPORT SET FOR F4 FINALE WITH SIGHTS ON INCREASED PROGRAM IN 2022

When the F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda schedule gets announced prior to the start of the season, the main thing is to see if the final event will run alongside Formula One at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA). In 2021, this is the case, and it will happen this weekend in Austin, Texas as the world’s collective motorsports eyes is drawn to the pristine Texas facility.

“The F1 at COTA is an event that we look forward to each and every year,” explained Don Conner of DC Autosport. “This year is no different, but the goals have changed slightly.”

With an increased number of entrants and limited track time, a pair of wheel-to-wheel races will take place over the three-day weekend as competitors will receive one practice session and one qualifying run prior to the first green light on Saturday afternoon. DC Autosport will enter Rodrigo Gutierrez in combat in the hopes that he can find his way to the front of the field and the top of the podium, providing DC Autosport a springboard of momentum into the 2022 season.

Currently tenth in the championship standings and with a maximum of fifty points on the table, a solid weekend by Gutierrez could net him a result in the championship in the top five or six for the 2021 season.

Conner added, “As racers, our goal is to win, and I have full confidence that Rodrigo can get the job done and that our equipment is race winning material. Our issue this season has been that we have essentially been a one driver program and that hurts when we are competing against teams that are four or five drivers deep. 2022 will be different and we are committed to a solid winter test program as well as multiple programs in 2022.”

With drivers set to hit the track on Friday for practice, Saturday morning will be the home for qualifying and the first wheel-to-wheel action of the weekend. Just prior to the Formula One United States Grand Prix, the F4 competitors will close their season with their final event on Sunday morning.
