It was a perfect weekend and a perfect start to the Blue Marble Radical Cup North America season for Danny Dyszelski. Scoring the pole position and three race wins, the WISKO Racing prepared entry left NOLA Motorsports Park as the current point leader and driver to beat as drivers shift their focus to Barber Motorsports Park in six weeks’ time.
It was a great start to official competition for Dyszelski as he was able to master the wet conditions in qualifying to score the PRO 1500 pole position. Showing great pace throughout the dry pre-event testing, rain began to fall thirty minutes before qualifying as Dyszelski remained unfazed by the conditions.
“I have a great team behind me that nailed the setup,” explained Danny. “I am confident in the wet and while I took it easy earlier on to make sure I banked a lap, I was able to push above the limits on the final few laps to earn the pole position.”
Back at the track Saturday morning for the first wheel-to-wheel action of the weekend, Dyszelski lined up on the inside of the front row for race one of 2023. It was a clean start and the long run down to the first corner as Dyszelski, who maintained his P1 starting position as well as made some quick moves around the slower Platinum class drivers, was able to slot into the fourth position overall.
A pair of caution periods slowed the race but when the green flag was in the air, wheel-to-wheel battles were intense throughout the field. Young gun Danny Dyszelski had an epic battle for the win in PRO 1500 with Dyszelski leading early before falling back to second but regaining the lead on the late-race restart. Driving to the win, it was the first victory of the season for Dyszelski in Radical Cup competition.
Returning to the track later Saturday afternoon, it was a dominating performance for the WISKO Racing driver. Doubling up on race wins on the day, Dyszelski had a dominating performance that saw him score the race two win by a commanding 22.883 over his closest rival.
Dyszelski continued. “What a day. Two wins to start the season is awesome, but the goal is to sweep the weekend so let’s see what we can do tomorrow in race three.”
Sunday’s third and final race featured an added twist with a pit stop that brought into an element of strategy. Leading early on and poised for another win, a slower-than-average pit stop saw Dyszelski lose the lead and fall back to the second position in class. More than six seconds behind the current class leader, Dyszelscki put his head down to close the gap as he was determined to climb to the top of the podium for the third time this weekend.
“I had closed the gap from six seconds behind to less than two seconds before a penalty needed to be served by my competitor,” added Dyszelski. “While he ducked for the pit lane, I was able to take the lead and drive to my third race win of the weekend in a weekend sweep.”
With a weekend off, Danny Dyszelski will be back behind the wheel of a USF2000 machine at the Sebring International Raceway March 24-26 before returning to the Blue Marble Radical Cup North America program at Barber Motorsports Park in late April.
