In what was set to be his third weekend of the 2023 season that saw Danny Dyszelski compete in a pair of classes at the same venue, the South Carolina resident has made the difficult decision to focus on only one. Making a run at the Blue Marble Radical Cup North America Pro 1500 Championship with WISKO Racing, Dyszelski will forgo open-wheel competition on the Streets of Toronto to focus on his title chase as he sits a mere six points out of the championship lead.
“I am excited to head to Toronto and really be able to focus on one class and the results needed to win this championship,” explained Dyszelski. “While I love racing and two classes on the temporary circuit may help me with additional track time, it was in my best interests to focus on the task at hand and the goal we set at the beginning of the season.”
Sitting second in both the Pro 1500 Championship as well as the Overall Blue Marble Radical Cup North America Championship chase, Toronto will mark the start of the second half of the season for Danny Dyszelski. With three wheel-to-wheel races on the 1.786-mile, 11-turn barrier-lined circuit, the WISKO Racing driver is pushing for three victories and the opportunity to regain the point lead.
“Danny will focus his effort on competing to win the Radical Cup championship and he will not split his efforts across both Radical Cup and USF2000 going forward in 2023,” explained Dyszelski’s Manager Ron Skufca. “We are thankful for VRD Racing’s support this year and the speed that we have shown but we are focused on Danny’s long-term development as a driver and that does not include completing the final two rounds of USF2000 this season. We believe that this is in the best interest of Danny now and onwards into the future as he continues to develop as a professional race car driver.”
With three more event weekends and nine more wheel-to-wheel races in the 2023 Radical Cup schedule including this weekend in Toronto, the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas and the famed WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, Dyszelski, Skufca, and WISKO Racing have reset their goals for the rest of the season with the ultimate goal of being named the Blue Marble Radical Cup North America Champion.
Dyszelski will hit the track this weekend for one 60-minute practice session on Friday morning before qualifying Friday afternoon. Sharing the track with INDYCAR, Dyszelski and the rest of the Radical Cup competitors will compete in three races over Saturday and Sunday in the quest for race wins, podium results, and valuable championship points.
