Blue Marble Radical Cup North America held its final round of the 2023 season at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca this weekend, and after a season-long battle for the Pro 1500 driver championship, Danny Dyszelski narrowly lost out to his rival as the championship battle came down to the final on-track session of the season. Despite earning vice-championship honors, Dyszelski had a banner year that featured several race wins, pole positions, podium results and fast lap honors.

Dyszelski started the first race on the outside of row two in fourth, and after a race impacted by yellow flags, the WISKO Racing driver finished third in the Pro 1500 class, just ahead of his title rival. Standing on the podium and in a good position, Dyszelski was ready to battle the rest of the weekend.

“The first race was a bit of a wash,” explained Danny. “There weren’t enough green flag laps to really make a lot of passes. We’ll be hoping for a cleaner race for our second battle of the weekend and hopefully be able to find our way to the front.”

In a relatively clean race two, Dyszelski finished second in class and third overall, losing out on the win by just 44 hundredths of a second. This meant the fight for the Pro 1500 title would go down to the final race on Sunday morning.

In race three, the WISKO Racing driver was in a close battle with rival but was held up in the pit lane during his mandatory pit stop, making his race for the championship a little bit tougher. He caught back up to the eventual champion as he was one of the fastest cars on track, but a late-race caution came out and the race finished under yellow, taking away his chance to fight for the title.

“We just got unlucky this last race,” explains Dyszelski. “I think if we didn’t finish behind the safety car, I could have made a challenge for the position. Congrats to Nick and his team, it was still fun to battle so closely all season. Thank you to the WISKO Racing team for their hard work this season. We’ve accomplished so much this season and that shouldn’t go unnoticed.”
