Returning to the place of his first win, Danial Frost will race this weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the INDY NXT by Firestone Grand Prix. Originally scheduled as a double-header weekend, the series has now divided the two races into separate weekends, with the first happening this weekend, May 11-12, and the second occurring during Brickyard Weekend later in the season, August 11.
Last year at IMS, Frost finished fourth in both practice and race one qualifying but worked his way to the front to claim his first career win in INDY NXT by Firestone in his first season with HMD Motorsports with Dale Coyne Racing. With experience on his side, Frost will also be able to count on HMD Motorsports to deliver a fast car as the team has won the last four races and has remained undefeated at Indianapolis Motor Speedway over the past two seasons.
This year, Frost hopes to again drive his #68 DenJet Dallara to the front of the field as he continues to fight for the championship in the largest fields of drivers in over a decade.
Starting the 2023 season off strong in St. Petersburg with a win and making up six positions through the field, Frost positioned himself as an early championship contender in his third INDY NXT season of competition. With two rounds complete in the 2023 season, Danial finds himself third in the championship, but with 12 rounds remaining, there is still a long way to go and a plethora of points up for grabs.
Taking part in the two-day event on Mother’s Day Weekend, practice and qualifying will occur on Friday between NTT INDYCAR SERIES sessions and will lead up to the 35-lap race beginning at 1:00PM on Saturday afternoon, live on Peacock TV.
