After claiming his first INDY NXT by Firestone win in 2022, Danial Frost is back this season eager to rack up additional wins as he continues his pursuit to reach the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. Beginning this weekend, March 3-5, Frost will begin his second season with HMD Motorsports with Dale Coyne Racing in INDY NXT by Firestone at the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg presented by RP Funding.

While he has not yet won on the Streets of St. Petersburg, Frost has stood on the podium four times in the past four seasons. In Indy Pro 2000, Frost claimed a second-place finish and two third-place finishes during the 2019 and 2020 seasons. In 2021, he again claimed a second-place finish in his third-ever INDY NXT race. Last season, Frost qualified eleventh and drove his way up to fifth. Frost is the highest-finishing returning driver this season.

With one win under his belt last season, Frost has two goals this season – win races and fight for the championship. Returning in the #68 DenJet entry, Frost will also continue to work with his engineer from last season, Mike Reggio. Already acquainted with each other, Frost and Reggio will be able to hit the ground running when the season gets underway.

During the offseason, Frost was able to participate in three separate series test days. At the Chris Griffis Memorial test this past October, he set the fastest lap time of the day against 16 fellow competitors. He also joined HMD Motorsports at Homestead-Miami Speedway in January and again this past Monday. Outside of INDY NXT, Frost competed in LMP2 during the Rolex 24 at Daytona as an unofficial kick-off to the 2023 season.

Entering his third season in the series, First will be able to apply his experience and familiarity with the crew, cars, and tracks as he begins his fight for the 2023 championship.

Leading the NTT INDYCAR SERIES through the weekend, INDY NXT by Firestone will take to the track on Friday for their first of two practice sessions. With qualifying slotted for Saturday afternoon, drivers will have just twenty minutes to set a fast lap and qualify for Sunday’s race.
