It was a race-winning weekend for Danial Frost and Jiatong Liang at the Mandalika International Street Circuit. Frost, Liang, and the Craft-Bamboo Racing pairing delivered two podium finishes in the SILVER class during Round 2 of the GT World Challenge Asia series.
Behind the wheel of the #77 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO, Frost and Liang kicked off the weekend strong in qualifying. The duo secured a second-place starting position in class for Race One and followed it up with third in class for Race Two. Their impressive pace translated to results on race day, where they powered to a second-place SILVER class finish in Race One, before claiming their first-class victory of the season in Race Two.
“This weekend was a huge step forward for us as a team,” explained Danial Frost after celebrating on the podium. “Jiatong and I have been building chemistry since our first race together, and I think it showed here at Mandalika. To come away with a second and a win in class is a fantastic result, and I’m grateful to Craft-Bamboo Racing for the opportunity. We’ll aim to finish strong in Thailand as well.”
The Mandalika results mark a breakthrough for the pairing after a third-place finish on the podium in their debut outing at Sepang. With these finishes, Frost and Liang solidify themselves as contenders in the SILVER class as the season gains momentum.
Frost will return for his final appearance with Craft-Bamboo Racing later this month at Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand, for Round 3 of the GT World Challenge Asia, taking place May 30 – June 1. Following the event, Frost will step away from the racing calendar to resume his military duty in Singapore.
