Jay Howard’s Motorsports Driver Development program (MDD) has added another driver to its Formula 4 team roster for 2017. Dalton Peak has signed on to the MDD F4 program, and will be competing in the last two rounds of the F4 United States Championship, both taking place at the prestigious Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas.
“It is great to see one of our kart team drivers progress into cars through our Motorsports Driver Development program,” Jay Howard comments. “Dalton did a good job for us in karting, and has transitioned well in the Lucas Oil School. I expect him to get up to speed quickly in the F4 car. We are all looking forward to seeing Dalton in the car at COTA.”
Testing earlier in the year at Gingerman Raceway in South Haven, Michigan, Peak and Howard agreed that he was ready for the F4 program and the next step in his motorsports career.
Peak raced for MDD in 2016 in the karting program, managing great results throughout the season, and has now graduated to the team’s F4 program. In the 2017 season, Peak has raced in the Lucas Oil Formula Car Series earning a third place finish at Road Atlanta, and has scored strong results throughout the season to date. The Lucas Oil Formula Car Series has two races remaining for the year, the next event taking place at Lime Rock Park in Conneticut in early October, and the series finale at NOLA Motorsports Park in November. Peak will add the two upcoming Circuit of the Americas races in the F4 series in September and October to his current Lucas Oil Formula Series schedule.
Howard continued, “It is always great to promote from within and the Motorsports Driver Development Program is doing just that.”
