The Radical Cup North America series is back for the second event of the season at Barber Motorsports Park this weekend racing alongside the NTT INDYCAR SERIES in the Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix. The current leader in the Pro 1340 Team Championship, Crown Racing with APEX, sports a seven-car lineup for the weekend including a single entry in the Porsche Sprint Challenge North America series.

Chris McMurry, currently second in the Pro 1340 championship, makes his return this weekend in the second event of the season with Crown Racing with APEX alongside five new Radical Cup North America teammates. With the chance to take over the class point lead in the absence of current point leader and teammate Seth Bacon, McMurry has his eyes on the prize in Leeds, Alabama. Carl Fredrikson and Eric Griffin make their return to the series after joining the team for the 2023 Radical Cup North America season finale at the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca where the pair scored top-ten results in all three races of the weekend. Making their series debut on the main stage with Crown Racing with APEX this weekend are Mike Ellis, Blake McGovern, and Keith McGovern, to make up the quintet of Pro 1340 competitors.

In addition to the six drivers competing in the Radical Cup series, Crown Racing with APEX will also be campaigning a Porsche Sprint Challenge North America program with female driver Tayne Griffin. This will be Griffin’s first appearance in the Porsche Sprint Challenge series, but she has much experience at the club racing level competing at the APEX Motor Club in Arizona. All six competitors competing for Crown Racing with APEX this weekend emerge from Crown Racing’s home track of APEX Motor Club in Maricopa, Arizona.

“We’re happy to have a large lineup this weekend,” explains Team Manager Joey Martin. “Competing in two different series, we can show Crown Racing’s capabilities amongst six different drivers in completely different race programs. The weekend will look a little different with the addition of Tayne Griffin in the Porsche Sprint Challenge North America series, and we’re excited to take on the challenge of running two programs in a single weekend, alongside the INDYCAR SERIES.”

Over the weekend, Radical Cup North America will see its regular three-race schedule while Porsche Sprint Challenge North America will compete in two races across the weekend. Live timing for the whole weekend can be found on the Race Monitor app or at with live streaming available on the Radical Motorsport YouTube page. The full weekend schedule can be found below.
