CROWN RACING SCORES FOUR PODIUMS IN THREE RACES AT NOLA MOTORSPORTS PARK

Crown Racing started off the Blue Marble Radical Cup North America 2023 season with a bang at NOLA Motorsports Park this past weekend. Hailing from Arizona at their home track of APEX Motor Club, Crown Racing was a fierce competitor in the series last season, and this season they came to dominate the competition with rookie drivers, father-son duo Seth and Jace Bacon, taking home two wins and two second place trophies in the Pro 1340 class.

The younger of the Bacon Boys Racing duo, Jace, topped the charts for all the practice sessions and managed to score the pole position in a wet qualifying session.

“I was a little worried going into qualifying,” explained Jace, “I had never driven in wet conditions before and it was tough, but the team gave me such a quick car, so I had to do them proud.”

Going into race one it was looking like Jace was going to keep his momentum up and take his first trip to victory lane but lost it late in race one, opening the door for his father, Seth Bacon, to take home first win for the team.

“It’s bittersweet to win this one,” explained Seth, “I’m celebrating a win, but I also want Jace to do well and want him up there on the podium with me. This is the tough part about racing against your son.”

Ready for another shot at it, Jace Bacon rejoined his father and fellow drivers in the Pro 1340 class sitting on the inside of the front row again for the second race courtesy of the fastest race lap in the first wheel-to-wheel action. Contact with another driver early on ruined Jace’s chances at another podium, again leaving his father to battle it out for the lead, bringing it home in the second position for Crown Racing’s second podium of the weekend.

Race three left one last shot for Jace to get that podium result he deserved. With Seth starting second and Jace starting third, the two battled it out in race three, which included a mandatory timed pit stop, but it was Jace Bacon who finally claimed his first podium and first win of the weekend with his father finishing just behind him in second.

“To finish out the weekend with a one-two podium result is exactly what we were expecting,” says team manager Joey Martin. “We know they’re capable of doing that on a regular basis, so we expect to see more of these results in the future.”

Crown Racing will carry their current momentum into the next Blue Marble Radical Cup North America event at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama which will feature three more races over the course of the weekend as they race alongside the NTT INDYCAR Series.
