Blue Marble Radical Cup North America journeyed up north to Toronto, Ontario for the first time this past weekend to take on the series’ very first street circuit alongside the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. The rainy Canadian weather made for some interesting spectator racing on the Streets of Toronto as Crown Racing’s two-car team of Seth and Jace Bacon made their podium comeback this weekend scoring a total of four trips to the box.
After a rough go in both practice and qualifying, Crown Racing’s younger driver Jace Bacon managed to find his speed when it came to race time, claiming a hattrick of third-place podium finishes while father Seth Bacon hovered in the top-five all weekend, even beating out his son for a second-place finish in race two.
“I struggled in practice and qualifying,” explains Jace Bacon. “And we left the team with quite a bit of work to do before race one on Saturday, but these guys worked late, turned the car around, and gave me a podium-winning car, and I can’t thank them enough for that. It was my first time racing in Canada and my first street race so I’m overall happy with the results.”
With Crown Racing still at the head of the Team Championship point battle, Jace Bacon now sits second in the Driver Championship points ahead of his father Seth heading into the last two rounds of the season while Crown Racing extends its lead in the Pro 1340 championship.
“We only have two race events left on the 2023 schedule,” explains Team Manager Joey Martin. “So we need to keep pushing for these podium finishes as it will be important with such a close championship. I’m proud of how far both Seth and Jace have come this season, from starting the year racing at APEX Motor Club to now becoming recurring podium finishers in the Blue Marble Radical Cup. We’ve got one thing on our mind now, and that’s the championship.”
Crown Racing will continue its journey with Seth and Jace Bacon and the Blue Marble Radical Cup North America series at the Austin, Texas track Circuit of the Americas (COTA) at the end of August.
