Crown Racing, the Arizona-based team who swept the competition at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) last year in the Blue Marble Radical Cup North America Pro 1340 class, makes their return to the facility made famous by Formula One this weekend in hopes to defend their proven track record.
On top of their regular father-son Pro 1340 class lineup of Seth and Jace Bacon, Crown Racing has recruited APEX Motor Club’s very own Chris McMurry and Ralph Ludwig, a pair of worthy additions to the strong team. Chris McMurry swept the competition last year claiming a hat-trick of victories in the Pro 1340 class and hopes to do the same this year.
Crown Racing currently sits second in the Pro 1340 class Team Championship and hopes their four drivers competing this weekend will give them the advantage they need to take over that top spot in the standings. The fifth and final Crown Racing driver in Texas will be Jason Plotke as he returns to the Platinum class at COTA. Plotke’s results at Road America catapulted the team to sixth in the Platinum Team Championship earlier this season and will surely be adding to the points total in that class with his efforts at the 3.47-mile, 20-turn facility.
“We have so many talented drivers at the APEX Motor Club,” explains Team Manager Joey Martin. “COTA is one of the better tracks to put these drivers on a world-class stage that the Blue Marble Radical Cup North America series provides. We’re returning with Chris McMurry this year who did an outstanding job here in 2022, along with the Bacon Boys, newcomer Ralph Ludwig, and Jason Plotke in the Platinum class. I think it’s safe to say we have a strong lineup of heavy hitters going into this round.”
Heading into the weekend, and courtesy of their strong results, Seth and Jace Bacon sit second and third in the Driver’s Championship points battle with six races remaining.
Martin added, “With only two race events left in the season, our full focus is on the championship, finishing our races clean, and gaining those points.”
