CROWN RACING ADDS A PAIR OF HEAVY HITTERS TO THEIR RADICAL CUP SEASON FINALE LINEUP

The Radical Cup North America series is completing its season this weekend in scenic Sonoma, California as the series returns to the 2.52-mile-long natural terrain road course of Sonoma Raceway. Current Pro 1340 championship leaders, Crown Racing, look to double down on both the team and driver championship titles with the return of championship front-runner Chris McMurry, and the addition of two championship-caliber racers, Matt McMurry and Anders Fjordbach.

Fjordback comes from a sportscar background and holds the 2021 GT2 European Series Pro-Am championship title. The 33-year-old Danish driver most recent performances include a third-place finish in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with MDK Motorsports at VIRginia International Raceway. Fjordback also has top performances in the European Le Mans Series (2017-2022), Volkswagon Polo Cup (2007-2008), and a win in the Dubai 24 Hour 997 class in 2015.

Fellow newcomer Matt McMurry looks to join his father, Chris McMurry, on the podium in California this weekend. The 26-year-old American was the youngest driver to finish the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2014 and most recently came in second at Daytona in the IMSA SportsCar Championship with CrowdStrike Racing by APR earlier this year. With two championship titles under his belt, the 2019 IMSA SportsCar Championship LMP2 Champion and 2020 IMSA WeatherTech GTD Champion, and a rolodex of racing results dating back to 2013, Matt McMurry will give Chris a run for his money. Chris McMurry, who currently leads the Pro 1340 class, will be looking to take home the championship title at the end of the final three rounds of 2024.

“We are overjoyed to have Matt and Anders join us in Sonoma this weekend,” explains Team Manager Joey Martin. “They come from incredible racing backgrounds, and we’re excited to work with them on track. With the championship title on the line, we hope this lineup will help to give us the push we need to secure the lead.”

Crown Racing and the rest of the Radical Cup North America series will begin their final race weekend of the season on Thursday. They will see their regular three-race schedule alongside the Porsche Sprint Challenge paddock throughout the weekend. Live timing for the weekend can be found on the Race Monitor app or at race-monitor.com, with live streaming available on the Radical Motorsport YouTube page.
