Continuing to grow their Battery Tender Global MX-5 Cup Presented by BF Goodrich Tires program, Copeland Motorsports is pleased to announce the signing of a veteran kart racer Tyler Maxson. After several successful tests, Maxson will make the move to cars in 2019 and be part of Copeland Motorsports’ quest for race wins, podium results and season championship.

“I had the opportunity to test with Tyler in Atlanta and was very impressed,” explains Dean Copeland. “We were on track together and he picked up speed quickly and by the end of the day, was very competitive. Learning with each passing lap, Tyler will continue to gain experience in a winter testing program before making his series debut at the first event next season.”

As a front-runner in the junior divisions in North American karting, Maxson has had much success as he climbed through the ranks. With numerous high profile victories, countless podium results as well as several national championships, the Georgia resident has been one to watch. Destined for success, Maxson will aim towards the Rookie of the Year honors in 2019 in the Global MX-5 Cup. In addition to the Global MX-5 Cup program, Maxson will run his MX-5 Cup car in the Pirelli World Challenge TCA class.

“Making the move from karts to cars is exciting,” adds Maxson. “I have raced all over the world at the highest level in karting, but the Global MX-5 Cup is some of the most competitive wheel-to-wheel racing I have seen. It almost reminds me of the lower horsepower karting classes. Dean and all the guys at Copeland have been great to work with and I can’t wait to get started.”

With a growing program for 2019, Copeland Motorsports has an intense winter testing program planned for both new and experienced drivers throughout the country. With the goal to be the premier team in 2019, the Copeland Motorsports program is very fluid and will work with drivers to better their complete racing program and provide the best trackside experience possible. Unique opportunities for both arrive and drive as well as car ownership can be established.

Copeland continues, “We have several more test dates planned and have cars available for interested drivers.”
