The INDY NXT by Firestone race at Barber Motorsports Park this past weekend saw a field of more than 20 drivers descend into Leeds, Alabama and the track dubbed the Alabama Roller Coaster for round two of the 2024 season. HMD Motorsports driver Christian Bogle, who scored a top-ten at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg to open his campaign, was aiming to beat his seventh-place finish in last year’s race at the same Barber Motorsports Park location.

The veteran driver’s speeds were just outside the top-ten in the first two practice sessions of the weekend which saw his qualifying attempt come from group two. In a stacked group, Bogle scored ninth quickest lap time, placing him 17th overall for the start of the race. He was able to climb four positions throughout the 35-lap race to finish 13th.

“Obviously, we didn’t qualify where we wanted,” explained Bogle. “That makes the task quite difficult at a track where passing is not all that easy, but we were at least able to climb a few spots by the checkered flag. Next up is the Indy Grand Prix, and we’ll look to gain back what we lost in this one there.”

As the dust settles from this weekend’s race, Bogle finds himself in 12th place in the championship standings, with two of the 14 races now completed. The excitement continues to build as the series prepares for the next challenge – the renowned Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This monumental event, scheduled for the month of May, will mark Bogle’s first of two double-header events of the season in the Indianapolis Grand Prix weekend from May 9-11.

Bogle and his HMD Motorsports program will have a single test day prior to the Indy event weekend on May 7 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
