An announcement, which initially came out Monday, June 24, confirms that Carl Bennett will pilot the #47 COOL Racing LMP2 car as its primary driver for the rest of the 2024 European Le Mans Series (ELMS) season. Alex Garcia announced that he will take a step back from Bennett’s role as the young driver readies for Imola this weekend.

Carl Bennett has been and will continue to compete in the FIA World Endurance Challenge with Isotta Fraschini Duqueine Team in the #30 Hypercar for four rounds of the 2024 season so far. The plan for the 19-year-old is to compete in the remaining four rounds with Duqueine’s Isotta Fraschini in addition to his new responsibilities with COOL Racing in the ELMS.

“I’ve joined COOL Racing to continue to develop my driving abilities across various vehicles,” explains Bennett. “With a great team and experienced driver lineup, I’m looking forward to the next ELMS event at Imola. I believe we will be able to achieve a good result, and I can’t wait to see all the racing fans!”

This weekend will be Bennett’s first ELMS race of the season, but the third round of six for the series so far in 2024. The 4 Hours of Imola will begin on Friday, July 5, with one free practice session and will continue into Saturday with the second and third free practices before qualifying. The four-hour-long race will go green Sunday afternoon at 11:30 AM local time (EDT +6 hours). For live timing and a live stream of the weekend, click here. More race information can be found here.
