Taking on the Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta for the second round of the Trans Am Series Presented by Michelin, CB Motorsports closed the weekend with their best result of the 2024 season, and all three drivers inside the top-20. Caleb Bacon gained eight positions in the 40-lap race to finish sixth, his second top-ten result of the season, while John Weisberg and Jared Odrick battled hard for top-20 results in a challenge-filled weekend.

After progressing through load in on Wednesday and a test day on Thursday, it was time for CB Motorsports drivers to hit the track one last time for practice on Friday morning. With qualifying slated for later in the day, it was the last opportunity to find the necessary speed to fight at the front of the pack and test a few last items. Bacon was able to turn the fastest lap of the CB Motorsports trio slotting him into the 14th position while Jared Odrick was 20th quick. John Weisberg was down in 30th on the charts but would aim to move forward in qualifying.

With the final practice session in the books, the focus shifted to qualifying but Mother Nature had plans of her own. With a dramatic storm moving through the Braselton, Georgia area and a lot of flooding due to the heavy rains, series official decided to cancel qualifying and set the grid from times in the final practice session putting Caleb Bacon on the outside of row seven, Odrick in row ten and Weisberg in row 15 for the start of the 40-lap race on Sunday.

“A little disappointing that we were not able to qualify today as we did not show our true speed in practice,” explained CB Motorsports’ Chad Bacon. “We will need to come out swinging tomorrow and see if we can move forward, stay out of trouble, and salvage solid results for all three of our drivers.”

Sunday morning featured cooler temperatures, but the rain had moved from the area as the 12:45pm race time approached. With the goal for all drivers to advance or maintain positions throughout the 40-lap affair, the trio of CB Motorsports drivers did just that with Caleb Bacon earning the team’s best result of the season. Starting 14th on the grid and battling hard inside the top-ten, Bacon crossed the line in the sixth position earning his second top-ten result of the season. John Weisberg, in his first race with CB Motorsports was the team’s biggest gainer going from 30th on the grid to finish 16th while Jared Odrick battled as high as 15th, eventually finishing 20th when the checkered flag flew.

Bacon added, “Great day for the team. All three cars rolled back into the transporter, and we accomplished a lot of what we set forth to do this weekend. Caleb nabbed his second top-ten finish in as many races and John gained 12 positions. Jared completed the full race distance and was inside the top-20 so we will leave here this weekend and shift the focus to NOLA Motorsports Park in a few weeks.”

Next up for the CB Motorsports team and competitors will be a trip to New Orleans, Louisiana, and the flat and fast NOLA Motorsports Park April 11-14.
