Descending on the Sebring International Raceway this past weekend, CB Motorsports, Caleb Bacon, and Jared Odrick kicked off their 2024 Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli. In a strong field of TA2 drivers totaling 38 entries, Bacon was able to score CB Motorsports’ best result in tenth but not without overcoming some adversity prior to qualifying.

“It was a tough start to the season for sure,” explained Bacon. “We had an electrical issue on Thursday which essentially put us on the sidelines as we tried to diagnose the problem. Losing the entire day to our competition, I went into qualifying with five or six push laps while other drivers were north of 30. Difficult to say the least, but we made the best of a bad situation.”

With the CB Motorsports team working tirelessly to solve the problem, Caleb, along with Odrick, were able to hit the track Friday morning for the final practice session before qualifying. With everything in working order and fast-tracking their on-track test list, qualifying was later that afternoon that set the grid for Saturday’s first wheel-to-wheel action of the season.

Qualifying Results:
Caleb Bacon – 17th
Jared Odrick – 34th

Returning to the track Saturday with renewed focus and energy, CB Motorsports drivers took the track mid-morning for their first race of the 2024 season. With the goal for both drivers to stay out of trouble and move forward, the plan of attack was going well for both until just past the midrace distance. With Bacon progressively moving his way toward the pointy end of the running order, Odrick was gaining experience and decreasing the gap to the leader regarding lap time as the weekend went on. Advancing from 34th to well inside the top-25, Odrick’s weekend came to an end on lap 17 with an issue that forced him to the sidelines. Bacon continued to make his presence felt moving into the top-ten late in the race, eventually crossing the line tenth capping off a valiant effort by both him and the team despite the problems earlier on in the weekend.

Bacon added, “A big shout out to the boys for all the hard work, sweat, and effort to make sure that we could compete, and compete with speed. While we were down, we were never out, and everyone rallied together to make sure that we could earn a result that we all deserved.”

Next up for the CB Motorsports will be a trip to the famed Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta over the March 21-24 weekend in Braselton, Georgia for round two of the Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli where the team has the opportunity to run three cars.
