Results from the penultimate race of the INDY NXT by Firestone season at the Milwaukee Mile reveal Brazilian HMD Motorsports driver Caio Collet has clinched the 2024 Rookie of the Year. Heading into the season’s final race next weekend at the Nashville Superspeedway, Collet will look to finish 2024 strong as he looks to earn his first career oval victory.

An eighth-place finish on the mile-long oval track at the Milwaukee Mile was all it took for Collet to solidify his Rookie of the Year title at just 401 points, sitting in third place overall.

“We always knew that Caio was fast and has what it takes to be a champion in Indy NXT, and Rookie of the Year was one of his goals this season,” explained Team President Mike Maurini. “No matter what Caio races, he is sure to become a professional in the motorsports world.”

Up to this point in the season and with only one event remaining, Collet and the #18 car have collected one win at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, four podium results, one pole, eight top-five finishes, and ten top-ten results. Collet also collects 59 laps led on the season to date.

“The INDY NXT field is tough and when we started the season, I knew it would be tough to challenge for the title with many tracks being new to me,” explained Collet. “I think we have done quite well. I am pleased with where I am and what I have learned as a driver. A huge thank you to the entire HMD Motorsports team, especially the crew on the #18 machine. Also, a big congratulations to Louis Foster on the INDY NXT Championship.”
