The time has finally come for the start of the 2024 season and for the Cahan Racing Team to make their Formula Race Promotions debut. Acquiring assets at the end of 2023 from another race team, Ayrton and Gabriel Cahan are set to make their first FRP starts this coming weekend at the Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. Gabriel Cahan will see action in the F2000 class while brother Ayrton will pilot an F1600 machine.

“It is a week that we have been looking forward to for quite some time,” explained Gabriel, who will contest in the F2000 side of the Cahan Racing Team program. “It has been a while since we could say it is race week, but it is finally here.”

F1600 competitor Ayrton Cahan added, “We have done only a few test days in the offseason as well as a Hoosier Super Tour race at Buttonwillow but none of that compares to FRP racing. Anxious to get the season going and see how we stack up to some of the big teams that have been in the FRP series for quite some time.”

Beginning their racing career in karting back in 2012 at the ages of four and six, Ayrton and Gabriel have progressed through the local ranks to get to where they are today. Competing in the national ranks in 2022 and throughout 2023, the full-time move to open-wheel racing in 2024 is just the start for the Cahan duo. Focused on motorsports both on and off the track, the Cahans are pursuing educational degrees in both Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, all while looking to compete at the front of their respective classes in FRP competition.

Putting school on the back burner for the first race of the season, the Cahan duo will hit the track Thursday for unofficial testing before official practice begins on Friday. Wheel-to-wheel racing will take the green flag on Saturday and continue through the end of Sunday with F1600 competitors on track for their first three races of the season while F2000 drivers will contest a doubleheader.
