The Cahan Racing Team closed out the 2025 Formula Race Promotions (FRP) season on a high note this past weekend at Summit Point Motorsports Park, where the Cahan brothers dramatically battled for the F1600 Championship. The picturesque 2.0-mile, ten-turn circuit in West Virginia played host to the final showdown of the year, with both Ayrton and Gabriel Cahan in the hunt for the title.
The weekend began with a strong qualifying performance as Ayrton Cahan secured pole position, while his brother Gabriel lined up close behind in third.
In Race One, Ayrton converted his front-row start into a second-place finish, while Gabriel delivered a consistent run to finish fourth. Race Two brought another pair of strong results, with Ayrton earning a third-place podium and Gabriel once again finishing just behind in fourth.
The decisive race three saw Ayrton claim yet another third-place finish, which proved enough to secure the 2025 F1600 Championship crown by a mere one point ahead of his brother. Gabriel closed out his season with a fourth-place result, which locked him into second place in the overall championship standings, making it a 1–2 finish for Cahan brothers.
“Winning the 2025 FRP F1600 Championship is an incredible accomplishment, and I’m truly grateful to the amazing people who made it possible,” expressed Ayrton Cahan. “The entire Eric Langbein team was outstanding all season long. Racing against my brother in such a close championship battle that came down to the wire made it even more special. A big thank you as well to my teammate John for helping me learn and grow throughout the year. And of course, the biggest thanks go to my parents and family for their continuous support. I can’t thank them enough.”
“Summit Point turned out to be a great weekend overall,” added Gabe Cahan. “I finished fourth in all three races and wrapped up the season with P2 results in the championship. Even though I came into the weekend leading the points, I couldn’t be prouder of my brother Ayrton for winning the title, and I’m truly happy to take second place.”
With the Formula Race Promotions season now concluded, it has not yet been announced what the Cahan brothers’ racing plans will be for the remainder of the year and beyond.
