Victorious in their Formula Race Promotions series debut at Road Atlanta last month, the Cahan Racing Team will be back in action this weekend. Making the trek from their home state of New Mexico, Ayrton and Gabriel Cahan will descend on the famed Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio for another action-packed weekend of FRP racing. Gabriel will be looking to build upon his one win and two podium weekend while Ayrton will aim to fight near the front of the talent-filled F1600 field of competitors.

Ahead of the F2000 Championship point standings, Gabriel will be looking to carry the momentum from one legendary circuit to another. Courtesy of his win on Saturday and second-place result on Sunday, Gabriel began the series as a rookie but immediately became a championship threat.

“It is great that we were able to earn the results that we did, but that is only one weekend, and we need to continue to try and do that,” expressed the driver of the #11 entry. “Not every weekend will go our way, so we need to be sure to take what we can get on any given time and maximize at every opportunity.”

On the other side of the program, Ayrton is battling in the F1600 Championship where on any given weekend, ten or more drivers can end up on the top step of the podium. Dubbed a high-speed game of chess that features a lot of drafting and strategy, Ayrton came to grips with what was needed throughout the weekend and enters the Mid-Ohio event much more prepared.

“Road Atlanta was a lot of news and a lot of firsts for me,” explained Ayrton Cahan. “It was our first trip to Road Atlanta, our first event as a team, and my first national F1600 event. I learned a ton and all of that can be used coming into this race week. I am ready and look forward to the opportunities.”

While it has been a month since the first wheel-to-wheel action, there has been little time off for the Cahan Racing Team. A trip back to New Mexico, car prep, training, and the simulator have been the daily activities for the Cahan duo as they embark on their next FRP adventure.
