Cahan Racing Team successfully wrapped up a demanding fourth round of the Formula Race Promotions season at Road America this past weekend, with brothers Gabriel and Ayrton Cahan competing in both the F1600 Championship Series and the Atlantic USF Jr. class. Their double-duty effort showcased their resilience and skill on one of North America’s most challenging circuits.
In the F1600 class, Gabriel Cahan put in a stellar qualifying effort to secure second on the grid, with Ayrton close behind in fourth. Race one was a highlight for the brothers as Gabriel drove to victory and Ayrton followed him onto the podium in third. Race two saw Ayrton claim a hard-fought second-place result, while Gabriel narrowly missed the podium in fourth. The third race brought more success for Gabriel, who earned his second win of the weekend, with Ayrton finishing further back in the field after a tough run.
In Atlantic USF Jr. qualifying, Gabriel once again led the way with a pole position, while Ayrton slotted into fourth. Race one saw Ayrton carry the team flag to a strong second-place podium, while Gabriel was forced to retire early in the ten-lap event. In race two, Gabriel rebounded with a second-place finish, while Ayrton was unable to complete the full 13 laps, falling down the order in the final classification.
“Overall, it was a solid weekend at Road America running double duty, despite a few setbacks,” explained Gabriel Cahan. “A crash in Race One of the Atlantic class put us on the back foot for the second qualifying session. Fortunately, things went better in the F1600 class, where I managed to take two wins out of three races. I also made a strong recovery in Atlantic Race 2, climbing from ninth to finish P2.”
Ayrton Cahan added, “Road America was a weekend full of highs and lows. I had the opportunity to run double duty in both a USF car and F1600. During Thursday’s F1600 practice, we were involved in a major incident at the Kink, which left the car beyond repair at the track. Fortunately, we were able to secure a rental for Friday and went on to earn podium finishes in both Race One and Race Two. Unfortunately, a mistake in Race Three took us out of contention. On the USF side, I logged valuable seat time, and I’m incredibly grateful to Exclusive Autosport for the amazing opportunity. Our pace was steadily improving, but in Race 2 we encountered an unknown issue that left us significantly off the mark.”
The Cahan Racing Team would like to thank Eric Langbein and Exclusive Autosport for their hard work and constant effort in achieving success.
