The Cahan Racing Team continued to make waves in the Formula Race Promotions (FRP) paddock this past weekend at Pittsburgh International Race Complex. Brothers Gabriel and Ayrton Cahan showed impressive pace and consistency across three competitive F1600 races, walking away with a combined four podium finishes.
Gabriel Cahan made an early statement by earning pole position during qualifying, setting the tone for a dominant race one performance. He went on to claim the race win, with brother Ayrton following close behind to secure a 1-2 finish for Cahan Racing Team. In race two, Ayrton fought hard to clinch third place, with Gabriel finishing a strong fourth. The final race of the weekend saw Gabriel back on the podium with a third-place finish, while Ayrton crossed the line in seventh, capping off a weekend full of progress and resilience for the sibling duo.
“It was a solid weekend at Pitt Race overall,” explained Gabriel Cahan. “I grabbed my second win from pole in race one, though we took a step back with the setup and finished fourth in race two. Race three was full of intense and fun battles, and I managed to fight my way to third to wrap up the weekend.”
Ayrton Cahan echoed the sentiment, adding, “Overall, PittRace was a great weekend. Race one was a highlight as my brother and I took home first and second, which made it extra special. We faced some challenges with pace in race two, but I was fully focused on going for the win in race three. Unfortunately, a racing incident dropped me back to 15th. I pushed hard, made up eight positions, and finished seventh. I’m proud of my performance and excited to come back even stronger next time.”
The Cahan Brothers will return to action at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, June 26–29, for the next round of the FRP championship.
