Every year, Memorial Day weekend is known as the crown jewel weekend on the motorsports calendar. With Formula One’s Monaco Grand Prix and the famed Indianapolis 500 on hold, NASCAR’s grueling Coca-Cola 600 was run behind closed doors proving the new normal during the 2020 holiday weekend. With delays seen across the motorsports calendar, virtual racing has come to the forefront including in the World Karting Association (WKA) and tonight will be the final round of the A-Maxx Racing WKA eSports Series Presented by Summit Racing Equipment.

Taking place at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the mecca of speed, the A-Maxx Racing WKA eSports Series Presented by Summit Racing Equipment competitors will battle in their fifth and final event before returning to real racing in just about one month’s time.

Byron Daley enters the final event with the points lead as he holds a nineteen-point margin on Nick Snell. Scoring a pair of race wins at Sebring International Raceway and Road America, Daley has taken control of the championship but will need a consistent finish to garner the title. Snell, courtesy of his three podium finishes, holds a thirteen-point advantage over Daytona’s race winner Jake Drew. Will Salisbury and Austin Olds sit fourth and fifth as four drivers are separated by six points back to seventh.

“The battle will be at the front of the field will be intense as only Daley and Snell mathematically have a shot at the title,” explained Kevin Williams. “While both drivers have consistently been in the top-ten and both have three podium finishes, Byron Daley has had the advantage and will head to Indy with a target on his back.”

The A-Maxx Racing WKA eSports Series Presented by Summit Racing Equipment will conclude tonight as the series aims to get back on track shortly after that for the WKA Manufacturers Cup, the WKA Vega Road Racing Series and the WKA Maxxis Speedway Dirt Series at the Charlotte Karting Challenge. Registration for all three series are available by visiting www.WorldKarting.com.
