It’s the penultimate weekend in the Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West by Yokohama program and BR Racing is ready to attack. Set to battle it out on the 2.238-mile, 11-turn natural terrain road course, BR Racing brings six hungry competitors to the legendary facility as they compete alongside the NTT INDYCAR Series.
“It’s a busy weekend, but one that we hope we can leave our mark on,” explained BR Racing’s motorsports Founder and Racing Coach Robert Todd. “The Porsche program has grown, and the competition level has been on the rise. There are no easy races but to share this track with so many great competitors will allow us to hopefully put on a great show for the large crowd this weekend.”
With five Porsche 992 Cup cars and a single Porsche GT4 Clubsport entry, BR Racing is one of the largest contingents in the paddock. Leading the way into the second to last series weekend of the season is current point leader and BR Racing founder Robb Todd. As the 2016 Porsche GT3 Cup Champion, Todd is looking to cap off another successful season of racing with only four wheel-to-wheel races left on the schedule. Alongside him is Porsche Sprint Challenge newcomer Blake McDonald who had success at the most recent event climbing to the podium at the famed Circuit of the Americas (COTA).
Veterans of the BR Racing program include Sam Parnagian who has raced with the program for five seasons. Competing in the GT4 Clubsport program in 2022 and earning multiple victories, Parnagian leveled up in 2023 to compete in the 992 class with support from PEELZ / Fowler Packaging. Flanking Sam Parnagian will be INFORMED backed driver Sal Brogna. Racing in the 991.2 Cup for multiple years, Sal moved to the 992 class two years ago and has been a fixture in the series and the BR Racing program. Alongside Sal, Richard French has followed the same path having raced the GT4 Clubsport for three seasons before piloting a 992 Cup car for the past two years as he and the rest of the BR Racing 992 drivers look for strong results this weekend.
Along with the five BR Racing regulars, 2023 Midget driver and winner Jade Avedisian will be behind the wheel of a GT4 Clubsport entry at Laguna Seca thanks to the support from Fowler Packaging. A younger competitor and female, BR Racing is looking to bring more drivers to the Porsche Sprint Challenge and grow their overall effort and perception both on and off the track.
Todd continued, “We are on track tomorrow and ready for the weekend. The season is winding down and results this time of year do not only help in our championship chase but also help build momentum for our 2024 campaign.”
Set for a quick two-day weekend, a pair of practice sessions will be highlighted by qualifying Friday before two wheel-to-wheel races take place on Saturday.
