The Radical Cup North America returned to the West Coast this past weekend, taking on the famed Corkscrew at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in the fifth event weekend of the 2024 season. Radical Cup front-runners in Pro 1340, Crown Racing with APEX, had a stellar performance this weekend, claiming three wins and three additional podium results, along with a Sunoco Hard Charger Award, fought for and well-earned by Evan Wolf.

Veteran racer Chris McMurry extended his championship lead after snagging pole position for all three races in the Pro 1340 class, along with two wins in races one and two, and a third-place finish in race three behind rookie Blake McGovern, who took home his first win of the season. McGovern also earned a runner-up finish to McMurry in the initial two races of the weekend. Laguna Seca was Blake McGovern’s last Radical Cup North America event of the season, but he has plans to return for the full slate of competition in 2025.

Blake’s father, Keith McGovern, struggled to put forth his best results this weekend with a pair of sixth-place finishes, followed by an eighth-place result. That said, all Crown racers placed in the top-ten in all three events of the weekend. Evan Wolf had a breakout performance in race three, bringing home the Sunoco Hard Charger Award for most positions gained, finishing in fifth place. Wolf also took home a top-five result in race one.

“Really proud of the team this weekend,” explains Team Manager Joey Martin. “All of our drivers are starting to hit their stride. Chris McMurry has always been there, but it was great to see Blake McGovern go out on a high note, along with Evan Wolf claiming the Hard Charger Award. It’s really a testament to the amount of talent coming out of APEX Motor Club and all the hard work they’ve put in up to this point. We’ll continue to do what we do in Toronto in a few weeks.”

Crown Racing with APEX will sit tight for a few weeks before heading north of the border to take on the Streets of Toronto in Ontario, Canada. Catch them on track July 19-21 alongside the NTT INDYCAR SERIES for the final time in 2024.
