Black Sheep Racing is set to return to action this weekend at its home track, Sonoma Raceway, for the next round of the Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West season. The San Francisco-based team will field a two-car GT3 lineup for the event. Laura Ely will once again compete in the GT3 Masters class while Josh Conley joins the team in the GT3 Pro/Am category. Additionally, Black Sheep Racing will also take part in the Velocity Invitational event as the local team looks to become victorious a few times this weekend at Sonoma Raceway.
Conley is no stranger to Black Sheep Racing, having previously competed with the team during the 2023 season. He also currently races in the Porsche Carrera Cup North America series, bringing valuable experience into the Sonoma weekend.
This marks the second visit to Sonoma Raceway this season for Black Sheep Racing, and the team enters the event carrying strong momentum from its last outing at the California circuit. During the previous Sonoma round, Ely dominated the GT3 Masters class by securing pole position for both races and capturing victories in each event.
Driver and team owner Ely is looking forward to returning to familiar surroundings and building on the team’s recent success.
“Sonoma is always a special weekend for our team because it truly feels like home for us. We had a great result here during the last round, and everyone has worked hard to keep that momentum going. It’s also exciting to have Josh back with the team this weekend. He already knows the program well, and I think we have a strong lineup heading into another competitive weekend.”
With confidence high following their previous Sonoma success, Black Sheep Racing heads into the weekend aiming to continue its strong form on home soil. The race weekend will begin Friday with practice sessions. Saturday will feature qualifying and Race One, while Race Two will conclude the weekend on Sunday. Fans can watch qualifying and both races live on the YouTube channel of Porsche Motorsport North America.
