Taking on the 14-turn, 4.048-mile Road America this past weekend, Black Sheep Racing added more podium results to their 2024 Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West by Yokohama total. With Laura Ely battling in the 992 Masters class, Greg Herback showed his pace in the Cayman Masters category as the duo combined for four podium results in two races. Herback also joined forces with Paul Whiting in the Porsche Endurance Challenge North America event to finish in a solid seventh.

Qualifying third for race one on Saturday, Ely battled hard at the front of the field and claimed another podium result with a third-place finish. Looking to improve that result during race two on Sunday, Ely would once again climb up onto the box, earning her second third-place result over the weekend, keeping her name in the championship conversation.

“It is always great when you can leave the weekend with some hardware,” explained Ely. “The competition level in the Porsche program this year is stronger than ever, and while a podium is great, the hunger to win is even stronger with one event remaining.”

Like her teammate, Black Sheep Racing competitor and Cayman Masters driver Greg Herback scored a pair of podium results by finishing third in races one and two.

“I guess third place is what we are good for this weekend,” added Herback, who added a pair of third-place trophies to Laura Ely’s hardware. “A huge thank you to Black Sheep Racing for their hard work and support. It is now time to see if we can drive from deep in the field forward in the Porsche Endurance Challenge North America event later this afternoon.”

Starting 15th on the grid, Herback and Whiting had a strong run amongst the GT4 competitors. Strategically working their way forward by staying out of trouble and being cautiously aggressive, the driving duo was able to close the time gap to the leaders and take the checkered flag inside the top-ten. Pushing hard throughout the two-driver, one-hour-long race, Herback, and Whiting finished in the seventh position.

Next up for Black Sheep Racing will be the final Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West by Yokohama event of the season at the famed Sonoma Raceway in Napa County, California. Looking to cap the season off strong and build momentum for a successful 2025 campaign, BSR drivers will be hunting for race wins and podium results in Northern California.
