A champion in the Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West schedule and a race winner already in 2024, Black Sheep Racing is now entering the Porsche Endurance Challenge North America program. Partnering with MDK Motorsports, two former Porsche champions, Laura Ely and Ashley Freiberg, will aim to fight for race wins and podium events in the four-event series that kicks off next month at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas,

“This is a fantastic opportunity for myself and my team to partner with MDK Motorsports, one of the premier Porsche Sprint Challenge and other racing series teams,” expressed Ely. “I’ve been a big fan of Ashley for years and now it’s an opportunity for her and I to showcase our talents in this endurance series. Two former champions of Porsche Sprint Challenge are going to add an element of excitement to the series.  It also is our opportunity to showcase two of the premier female drivers in the Porsche Sprint Challenge series.”

Earning titles in back-to-back seasons, Ashley Freiberg was the 2023 North American 991 class champion while Laura Ely was the 991 class champion from Porsche’s West program in 2022.

“I’m so thrilled to be running the Porsche Endurance Challenge with Laura Ely and Black Sheep Racing/ MDK Motorsports!” exclaimed Freiberg. “I love the fact the Porsche is bringing a taste of endurance racing into their series, it will be fun to be a part of its very first season here in North America! Laura is awesome and has had some strong results with race wins and championships under her belt in Sprint Challenge, and I’m excited to be able to co-drive with her and work together this year! Let’s go racing!”

The series will begin on Memorial Day weekend, May 26, with a 60-minute round at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) before moving to “America’s National Park of Speed”, Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin in August. The penultimate race weekend will take place in the wine country of California, at Sonoma Raceway on September 29 while the finale will crown the Porsche Endurance Championship’s inaugural victors in a stand-alone event at COTA.

With two drivers confirmed, Black Sheep Racing will add a third competitor for the November six-hour race with a driver to be announced at a later date.
