Joining the Florida based team in 2018, Team BENIK driver Michael Costello has been on the upward trend. Honing his skills in regional and national level competition, 2019 has been a breakout year for the young driver. Showing speed and pace of the 2019 BENIK chassis, Costello had a spirited drive at the final round of the ROK Cup USA Florida Winter Tour as well as an impressive podium result this past weekend at the 2019 season opener for the United States Pro Kart Series.
With the winter season of karting now complete, the next event on the Team BENIK calendar is the Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) SpringNationals. Taking place at the Utah Motorsports Campus in Tooele, Utah, Team BENIK will enter a handful of drivers, including Michael Costello.
“It is no lie that we are in a rebuilding year, but we are well ahead of our goals already for 2019,” explained Nick Mitchell. “We have had some interest and the speed is there. The results that come with the speed is starting to come, so we will continue to push hard with our goal being the top step of the podium.”
After a head turning drive from the back of the Vortex Mini ROK grid to a fourth place finish at the final round of the Florida Winter Tour, Costello and his Team BENIK squad returned to the Ocala Gran Prix facility this past weekend. Scoring the fastest lap of Saturday’s main event en route to a second place finish, his first national podium, Costello returned Sunday and consistently ran towards the front of the field claiming a sixth place finish.
Mitchell continued, “We will make the cross country trek for the second round of the Pro Tour, as well as to test the weekend prior. We will have BENIK chassis available for drivers to test if they desire, as well as opportunities for both chassis sales, dealer opportunities and arrive and drive programs. We have space for two additional drivers.”
The SKUSA SpringNationals are set to take place May 2-5, 2019.
